The Med-Vac History

Thomas Havey is the owner and founder of Med-Vac Inc.  Tom has experience working in many facets of the machining industry.  He began his career at McDonnell-Douglas, now Boeing, as a machinist.  He later moved on to work at Washington University, managing his own machine shop that supported the Physics Department.  Med-Vac Inc. was founded in 1984, and incorporated in 1985.  As a company it has steadily evolved from a one-man shop, collaborating with Washington University to the diverse company it is today.  At its inception, Med-Vac was created to support the research and development of the Cryopress, a machine that freezes tissue for medical research.  This collaboration lasted for many years, and resulted in the sale of many of these freezing machines for use in prestigious research facilities all over the world.  Twenty-five years later, many of these are still actively being used.

Gradually Med-Vac branched out and began doing other prototype and R&D work for the medical industry, research facilities, inventors, and artists.  As time went on, the company continued to grow and diversify, building a larger clientele based on a reputation for quality, close-tolerance work delivered in a timely manner at a competitive price.  This is still the case today.  Med-Vac has been named a Platinum Supplier for Marconi Industries, and many of our employees have been with the company since the beginning.  We believe in nurturing our employees by providing them with a work environment that offers many opportunities for learning and growth.  We believe that our strongest asset is our team of experienced people.
